Rhetorical Questions

a poem on projection

By Kay HusnickPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Did you wake up and regret your words again?

Take a moment to think it out, decide you overreacted, blew your top, as you admit you have before?

Did you need a reminder you were losing it again, forget how you asked me to check you, tell you when you're turning me into something I'm not?

Were you stressed and overthinking again, taking it out on me because it's easy, because I have never stopped you from using me as your verbal punching bag?

Did it shock you to find yourself suddenly unable to take your words back, to not be forgiven for piling onto all the words I did not forget?

I ask here, but I don't need to; I already know.
