Minimalism Self-portrait by Natalie Thomas

I see the shine below your eyes, kid

Tears aren't invisible while everything behind them are - the root of the problem...

Kid, brush your shoulders - they'll never see what you've done for yourself

They'll never see the scrapes that keep on bleeding, they'll never walk a day in your shoes...

I know your shoulders feel heavy, feels like you're overdue a savior

Look up kid, dilate your eyes onto me, this stained glass you walk on is cracking...

But you don't have to fall through

Rear your jaws back and grimace, embrace the blood drops that find shelter on your lips...

Make love to the hate you feel on your chest, that's a heartbeat that carries motive...

kid, if you feel resentment, let her down gently, be bigger than the regret that burdens you...

Squeeze your fingernails into your palm, the pain you feel is a reminder that you've lived...

Remember what you've lost and leave them the compass, you no longer need it...

You are the lung of a giant, encaged in you is the final bellow that shakes a forest...

They will never know the rage you bed, the solemn guilt you carry encapsulated in every silent tear...

The hell with them, kid

You are the one who struggles to come out on top

You are the sore throat that shakes vocal chords like post traumatic stress

You are the bloody heel that carries on

You are the faulty heartbeat that pushes onward from flatline

You are the dead eye that dares look at the sun

You are the angel that fell, and reigns where ever the surface met your broken back...

The hell with them, kid

They may not see how stained these keys you type on are...

blood, tears...existential intangibility

But I do...I am you...you are me...

The hell with them, kid

Show them what salvation looks like when you embrace the sorrow they guilt you so badly for possessing...

Reign, kid

Reign...
