***

as the snow begins melting

tiny bits of life slowly emerges from the petrichor scented soil

sure signs of second chances, hopeful notions

and rebirth

peace comes after....

after the terror and trauma of the journey

peace rebuilds

recaptures

and comforts

allowing the bloom to awaken

never taking away from the pain

only soothing the wound

allowing the experience to shape

mold

form

and grow

rewarding resistance

the effort, with gentle caress

the owl howls its disapproval to the moon

the scab heals and falls away

revealing a newness like never before

the scar

symbolizes strength and vulnerability

beauty that has risen

creating traceable lines

a map

that leads to self love

from tending the tenderness beneath

and embracing

the hurt
