I hate the color red
There was a new girl in class that day
Wen she came in all i could see was her hair
It was red, I didn’t like it
“This is Auburn.”
What a weird name, I thought to myself as I looked down
She came and sat next to me that day
I didn’t know why
I didn’t think I looked very interesting but she seemed to think so
Every time she turned, her hair brushed close to my face
I didn’t like it
Red is such an ugly color
She turned to me and asked me my name
She had green eyes, I liked the color green
“Noah”
She just stared at back at me what a weirdo
The next day I had the same class
Auburn wasn’t there
I wondered where she was
At least her hair wouldn’t be in my face anymore
She wasn’t at school the next few days
I felt a bit bothered for some reason
No one sat next to me
I was at the market getting bread for my mom when I saw a flash of red hair near the apples
It was Auburn
She was already looking at me so I went up to her
I didn’t know why I did. She was wearing a red top. It looked kind of nice on her
Red is still an ugly color
“Hi Noah” I’m surprised she remembered my name. I didn’t care though
That didn’t mean anything to me
She asked me to on a picnic with her the next day
Wtf why a picnic?
I didn’t know why I said yes but I did
She then walked away
Her and her red hair, it didn’t bother me that much anymore
The next day i put more effort into my outfit
I wore red socks
I didn’t know I owned a pair
They were ugly but very comfy so I wore them
I saw her at the park
It’s pretty easy to spot red hair
She looked pretty
Nothing much just pretty
“Do you not like my hair?” That was the first thing she said when I got there
“why?” I responded
She didn’t answer back
I learnt a lot about her that day
She wasn’t at school because her brother was sick and she needed to look after him
How thoughtful
I told her that her hair was beautiful
I was just trying to make her happy
When she said bye I missed her already
Her and her red hair
I decided that day that I liked the color red
Over the next couple of weeks we started hanging out more
I noticed how bubbly she is
Her smile could make anyone smile
She brought me a present
It was red cap
I loved it
I loved the color red
I think I might love her
We went and watched the sunset at the park
Me and my Auburn
My Auburn. I liked the sound of that
That night was a blur
She talked I listened
The sunset was so red
It was beautiful
Just like my Auburn
It had gotten dark and before we knew it, it was raining
I gave her my jumper, I knew she would keep it but I didn’t care
We were walking home and the street lights were shone on us
My house was first
She walked me up to my door
I don’t remember who leant in, maybe both of us because before I knew it our lips were together
It was euphoric
She was Auburn, my Auburn
We fit like puzzle pieces
I said bye
I stepped inside
I loved the color red
The next day it was Saturday
I texted Auburn straight away to tell her I’m on my way to her house
She lived close after all
The road straight to her house was blocked off
It wasn’t blocked off the night before
Auburn wasn’t answering and I felt ill
I stepped up to her door to knock
I knew I wouldn’t see my Auburn but i knocked anyways
Her mom answered
She looked really bad
Eye bags and puffy cheeks
“Auburn’s not here”
I don’t believe her
“She was walking in the middle of the road and the car didn’t see her”
I don’t believe her
“She’s passed, I’m sorry” She started sobbing
I don’t believe her
I ran to the blocked off road hoping to see my Auburn alive and smiling with her gorgeous red hair
I saw red a flash of red on the road
Auburn?
It was just a smear
I hate the color red
That night it was raining again
I told mom I was going for a walk
I gave her a hug and left
I lay down on the wet concrete road
I heard a screech
I miss my Auburn
I hate the color red
I’ll see you soon my Auburn
