We say goodnight to a red setting sun

With skies so dark, we almost expect rain

We watch as smoke rolls in from the west

And we know that clouds are not to blame

For it’s the smog that we can see the very best

Our forests are burning, and our rivers are dry

While we sit by ourselves, in our lawn chairs

Wondering how the world became so unfair

As Mother Nature cries out in a fiery lullaby

Her tears became storms, flooding our streets

And her anger transforms her into a wicked beast

She shakes the earth with all her might

Breaking the ground under her fierce bite

Though warnings we have had, many times before

We stubbornly refused to listen to nature’s dying roar

She has wept in the oceans and urged us once more;

Though little it has done in the fight of nature’s war

Quickly, we adapt to the new world around us

Though we have lost all of nature’s trust

There’s no where to go, and nowhere to run

Now we live in a world that we have broken

Having no choice but to breathe the smoke in

As we watch the day end in a red setting sun
