Red In A World Of Gray

Born For More

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 8 months ago 1 min read
Noir Art

you were born with a light

a color inside, that shimmers

meant to become a guide

with unique sparkle and glimmer

and then, life took control

it made you wince just a little

always pushing your pull

like discount bacon on a griddle

you started to settle for gray

forgot the warmth of the sun

a little more everyday

believed the story they’ve spun

denying your color

living lost in the shade

separated from others

just one foot out of the grave

but you were made for much more

the only one of your kind

one like never before

strength and compassion combined

a flower ready to bloom

meant to chase the sun's rays

the effect after the boom

the fresh scent in the rain

so, go on, take a moment

you've got nothing to prove

what you don't understand yet

what this world's needs is YOU!
