I have tried to capture
To tie down
And handle
The emotions with words-
Transform them
Into easily swallowed sentences-
A subject and a verb-
A daily recollection
A paragraph retelling
Of shattered pieces
And distinct moments
Trapped in mind's eye,
The pivot point
Of child, adult-
Of loss and escape
But each time
The thought runs away
The 'healing' torn
From notebook spine
With such violence
And cast aside
To drown in spring
And there is fear
That healing means
Forgetting
A story I wish to tell
On nights when the moon
And the stars are just right
And an energy sits
Just behind my shoulder
Awaiting his tale-
The one he never knew
Because we never had the chance
To remind him
How much we love(d) him.
Please remember that healing is not forgetting.

If you have love in your being...You never forget...the closest ones float in and out of your thoughts, sometimes like a deer bouncing across a meadow and bringing smiles, sometimes like a dark cloud suddenly moving across your mind, causing tears to well up and roll down your face. the ones, not so close are also there entwined in your daily comings and goings. Thank you for this bit of prose, it tells me something more about you in a personal manner.
