Reclaiming Myself

My stories carry pain.

I carry stories carved in pain,

But none of them are me in chain.

I take the pieces, broken, true

And build a self that carries through.

Forgetting my past I won't do.

The pain I felt was deeply true.

As shadows seemed to come and go,

I swallowed pride and learned to grow.

I forgave myself, brother too,

Moved ahead with a brighter view.

When my trials seemed hard to bear,

I felt God's love was everywhere.

Myself I needed to reclaim;

Find strength after taking the blame,

Letting go I needed to do,

Not just one time, more than a few.

My inner pain then went away.

I tried to send a shining ray.

Pray're always helps me find my way.

My heart is filled with peace each day.
