reborn, and not the same

forever altered by the cruelty of broken trust

By Mallory RosePublished 12 months ago 1 min read

in memory of the soul she was before,

that foolish, hopeful girl who met a boy,

became a broken corpse washed up ashore,

for he shattered her trust, destroyed her joy.

the girl who danced and leapt, who skipped and spun,

now a woman full of rage and wrathful scorn.

when that boy wrecked the girl who was the sun,

he beat her bloody, lips cracked and skin torn.

the cruelest irony, he used her fire,

to ignite the bombs that tore her apart,

which he chained to her with barbed wire.

she's gone, just shattered ribs and broken heart.

but callous, icy hate won't choke her flame

as she rises, reborn, and not the same.
