Reap What You Sow

A Poem

I could write an entire book on what you were supposed to do

and you’ll find ways to misread it on purpose.

I could spell out every sentence from memory

and you’ll find a way to gaslight everyone into thinking you’re the victim.

I could support you endlessly and show you the better paths,

but you’ll choose the one that’ll get you the most sympathy.

I could stay silent about everything and let you find your own way,

but that would give you fuel for your painted reality that I’m the bad guy.

So read my words as they are the truth:

You have done this to yourself.

You have made your bed to lie in.

I’m sorry it’s not the thread count you hoped for

or the style that you wanted.

You can change it if you want, but that’s up to you.

For now, you will take it for what it is

reaping what you sow,

until you can own up to the mess you created

and finally listen to something more than your self-made echo chamber.
