Ready To Hurt

Step in closer as I move away.

There's no doubt I want this, though there's no doubt I'll stray.

You care to call me in, and dare to call me by name.

My darkness makes it hard to hear and in the light you won't know who to blame.

Running from my past hurt, I have missed out on some of the greatest experiences of life.

Yet, here you are waiting. Watching me with something that resembles love in your eyes.

Am I ready to hurt when there is nothing here to gain?

And, how could you possibly want for this, when you know I don't feel the same?

I have fought you for long enough, my objections I can no longer assert.

Conceding to your wisdom-less wishes, I am finally ready to hurt.

About the Creator

Jollyoddbod Poetry

Here I am, and here I'll stay;

Like the moon in the darkness that refuses to fade.

Clouds will cover, but cannot take from my reign;

Mark this as the moment that they realise, as they scoff with distain.

They fell asleep, I cannot be blamed.
