Rain

On My Window

Against my window, the sound of the rain

I looked up.

From my sofa, watching television

Now, instead, I watch the rain

Watching the shower pelt down on the glass

It is peaceful, it is free

The sweet, succulent sound, surrounding me

Eyes closed, mouth closed, ears opened,

Sounds cease, except for the rain, around me

Four walls, four windows and the rain,

The beautiful rain

Rain, Water, Ice, Hale,

Standing still, swishing, washing, rushing

Light coming in from my windows

The steady drum beats of rain water on my windows

It low me to sleep,

It gently arouses me from sleep embrace,

Memories swan up to the surface,

'Home, Grenada',

The sea, the rivers, the streams... and the rain,

The rain on the galvanised roof,

Making sweet music to match the sweet smell in the air.

Rain, rain come again,

Flourish my memories and my brain

Bring back my childhood again.
