Questioning

Belonging

We whispered our secrets

In the valley,

The words echoing

From tree trunk to branch

To be swallowed

By passing ripples,

The stream cascading

From mountain top

That we dreamed of seeing,

Before the end of days

When we all returned

To the home we thought we knew,

But all questioned.

Our knees scraped rock,

Blood oozed

To mix with ice water

Bubbling from Earth,

Our secret absorber

That changed and churned

Rearranging words

Giving hope to lost souls

And reaffirming

Those questioning path

Found through darkened forest.
