A bruise always changes colors before it heals.

"PURPOSE PT. 3"

Poem derived from my first completed journal, Black and Blue (2018-2019). Written August 9th 2018.

~~~~~~~
CJM came on my Uptown 2 today:
On my way home,
he asked for a dollar to spare,
as I looked in my left palm,
I noticed I had an extra 100 Abe Lincolns
condensed into one paper George Washington,
more than him, at least...
But as I turned my head left
I hear a woman painted with the same
hues of beautiful coffee brown
snickering,
"I gotta get my own self outta here,
he ain't no damn army vet."
Vanilla Latte chuckles back,
humorously replying
"I hear you, baby."
I look at the gallon of Poland Spring
in my right arm,
wishing I would give some to CJM,
and pour it on Coffee and Vanilla.
Maybe a tree of compassion would then sprout
from their tiny, seed like brains.
