Seven Deadly Sins?

Whether I’m a vine or tree

I know the Gardner’s hand

As He gently takes a hold

And prunes off all the bad

Pride He sees there at the top

Looking all alert

Snip Snip says He as it topples down

Crushing under foot

Envy tricks us by looking green

We think it might be healthy

But underneath deep inside

We know that it is stealthy

Lazy branches all about

Shoot out at the ground

Because who can really be bothered

Growing further than a mound

Greed says gimme gimme gimme

Because they steal all the food

The healthiest of my sick limbs

And they are very shrewd

Selfishness fights with greed

It’s always about them

The Gardner doesn’t care for it

So chops the base of that stem

The Gardiner is so gentle

As He prunes my rough edges

I’ll care and love you always

He touches a leaf and pledges

About the Creator

Linda Bromley

Just one of many creative outlets for me has been books! My whole life I’ve loved them and it’s so easy to make the jump to writing.

Recently I completed a poetry challenge and now, looking for more excuses to write, I’ve found myself here!
