What is it to have new chapters?

Is it closing the door on something past

Or a leap of faith to something new?

How about if it refers to forgetting?

Forgetting I hear you say? Tell me more

Well, the best way to forget is to forgive

When you practice forgiveness

Truly doing it, you find you can forget

And a new chapter begins

A chapter without malice or hate or envy

A chapter that renews relationships

A chapter where you can write a fresh story

And the baggage of the past is gone

And what if someone forgives you?

You lived in shame and guilt, so heavy

You hated seeing them coz deep down

You KNEW you had hurt them

The new chapter of forgiveness

Is a brand new start for you

You can let go those things that held you back

And step forth, free and joyful and light

Jesus forgave us when He hung on the cross

“Father forgive them” He cried

The truest form of ultimate love

His forgiveness to us as He died

So if you harbour feelings of hurt

Either because of you or from others

Look to Jesus, see His example

Be free, forget and start your new chapters

About the Creator

Linda Bromley

Just one of many creative outlets for me has been books! My whole life I’ve loved them and it’s so easy to make the jump to writing.

Recently I completed a poetry challenge and now, looking for more excuses to write, I’ve found myself here!
