My country is broken and we better find a way to fix it
before we make so many enemies, we can no longer predict it.
The rich are too rich,
The poor are too poor,
The middle is losing it's grip
Every time they go to the store.
Let's regulate corporate America
to ensure individual freedom,
because a capitalist dictatorship
will always be led by some tweedle dee/dumb.
Can pure self-interest really lead to meaningful happiness?
because ignorance may be bliss,
but we can never really escape consciousness.
My country is broken and the problems are so overwhelming,
it just makes me sad.
Sometimes I feel like we just need to start over,
because it all began with contradictions,
hypocrites with good convictions,
and this has always made a lot of people
justifiably mad.
But it is my country nonetheless
and I've played my part in creating this mess.
Admitting your part of the problem
is the first step to the solution.
Let's take responsibility before there's more retribution.
We've stopped thinking for ourselves
Now we just do what we're told.
But people only look at the ground
when there's something
they don't want to see go'in round.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste
and a degree may not mean you have an education.
Trump is proof of that
and he's leading the nation.
Therein lies the problem.
Corporate America has dumbed us down.
Taken our minds,
taken our will,
led us like lemmings
even to kill.
Democracy requires our participation.
It is hard work and there are consequences,
but when something is wrong
we must say so.
It is our obligation to the nation.
Who is a nation but its people?
This country is composed of us.
Let's do our job as citizen,
come on, let's make a fuss.
