Prison

Every Week

By Z IPublished 7 years ago 3 min read

Shuffling, hopeless

Before you even enter.

you start counting

counting the years

left to get out.

Anticipating the time to get out

Sitting anxious

walls getting closer and closer

every time the clock ticks

Headache

Blocked nose

Hard breathing

Feeling hot

no, cold

Am I sick?

Should I go to the nurse?

No

I just got here

I can't already leave

Believe it or not

but I rather stay in this place

Than go

and having to convince the nurse.

I am sick.

Glance

At the clock

At the people around you

Mumbling

"Did you hear about the fight?"

"YESS, Guess who won?"

SHUT UP.

PLEASE.

I DON'T CARE.

NOBODY SHOULD.

Talking & Talking

You huff

wait,

IS THAT BOY COMING HERE?

Stay calm.

GOD. NO.

LEAVE ME ALONE.

I actually wanna be alone okay.

I don't wanna talk.

"Okay class, It's due today "

Ughh, of course.

Reach out for the paper

Stare at it

Write your name & date

Stare at it some more

Start thinking:

WHY

This shouldn't even be legal.

only a small glance

Is he still coming here?

no. okay, good.

Didn't we take a test

like yesterday.

Put your head down

Close your eyes

Block every sound

Try

KEYWORD: Try

To relax

Stay like that for awhile

You get up suddenly

Hearing someone

walking up to you

"Are you okay?"

You nod

Forcing a smile

NO.

I AM NOT.

OKAY.

Start thinking again

Consider dropping out

Play it out

In your mind

okay, so this is how it will go.

First thing of course,

You parents will kill you

but just maybe

KEYWORD: maybe

IF you are lucky,

they would just freak out and go crazy.

Then you would spend

the rest of your life

looking after them

& working fulltime at McDonalds.

Is it worth it?

You shake your head

Get up

Ask to go drink water

Rush to leave

But you stop

As soon as you leave the room

Walk as slow as possible.

okay?

Look around you.

Look at the sky up

Dream about leaving this prison.

At least you are not in the cell now.

Drink water

Wash your face

Want to look at the mirror?

yes. but not because

You wanna check

How you look

but because

You just wanna see

How dead you looked at this point.

Wash your face again

with cold water

Hopefully to wake up

Wake up,

HUH.

you thought.

At this point,

you are convinced

You will never wake up.

Just always sleepy & tired.

Go back

Enter

Look at everyone

How are they all still alive?

You wonder

Sit & take your notebook

Skim for answers

Write something down

Something

Not sure what

Hold your breath

Until the last answer

Want to check your paper

DON'T CHECK.

Get up

Give it to the teacher

Go back

Sit

Pack up

Glance at the clock

5 minutes left

Take your phone

Use it

Check the time every 5 seconds

Check social media

finally 5 years pass by

You check the clock

yes.

of course.

The bell is ringing late

You tense up

Look around

Making sure you are not alone

Not the only one

In this cell

You start panicking

But act cool

ACT COOL

Tooooooooot

FINALLY.

RUN.

RUN.

RUN.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.

First step outside

and you gasp for air

But you still act cool

Walk fast

Stop out the class

Wait for your friend

She comes out

You smile

Relieved

You are alive

& you can talk to your friends

Forgetting

You will go back

tomorrow

Once again

Even though

You guys talk about

How it was

But really,

How was it?

You were just that kid

Sitting in the corner

Alone

Quiet

Working silently

And turning the paper in time

Looking clueless

As if

You came from another planet

As if

You turned the paper in empty

Which

maybe

You did.
