a poem of endurance

are you proud

boy

wanna hold a little march

to reassert your dominance

boy

with your hipster beard and tattoos

no one sees you coming

but i do

boy

i know all about you

and your white pride

i know all about you

and your lies

you’ve built nothing

everything you have you stole

conned

just like your bff don

but i know you’re proud

boy

i just don’t know why

you’re the only one who got your history published

because you own the printing machines

not because your greatness is the stuff of dreams

i could show you

how to get some real pride

boy

the authentic resilient kind

the pride of a lion

boy

who has been caged for lifetimes

by weaker beings

and still struts like a king

but you would never listen

to a girl like me

boy
