Potential
The real-time loss of growth
Here we go again:
Attaching one-sided meanings to things .
Making no room for error and variation.
No wonder the caged bird sings .
Of our most sensitive souls?
The world inversely clips their wings ,
Killing the most beautiful and simplest of goals:
A life lived with love, friendship, purpose, freedom, and family.
The loss of potential withers me down to sleep.
From subconscious slumber, I pray that the stars may weep .
I hope they navigate me to a world where no souls are bound
and where the shadows of Truth awaken as they unfurl to the
sound of harmony.

Maybe I think too much. Or too deeply. Or too seriously.
Lately, I've been thinking about how there is still grave injustice and genocide occurring in the world. How most of these events are occurring because people haven't made peace with the past. And people haven't made peace with the past because either one or many parties involved are reluctant to take accountability.
As a collective, I find people are unwilling to take accountability for wrongdoings. They'd rather give temporary compensation than completely acknowledge the damage that has been done to others. In this way, the cycles that are needed for humanity to move forward, are hard to fully closeout.
Spirituality has taught me the interconnectedness of things. Maybe someday soon everyone will be on board with this truth so that we're able to live in a world where community and individuality coexist without too much friction.
There are many ways of life. Many ways of thinking. Many decisions that we'll have to make. But the one thing we all have, from the very act of being, is potential.
