Porcelain

Your Artful Lies

By A. S. LawrencePublished 12 months ago • 1 min read

Your masks might lie,

but their forms and lines

reveal the truth

of the intentions behind.

So I search beyond the plastic

and porcelain paint,

for your truth fantastic

of warriors and saints.

Why do you block the road to your heart?

Clogged arteries kill

like your artful lies will.

Is it so that you'll know

if I'd trudge trough the snow,

if I'd die just to know?

Is it to force me to earn,

or to make me more stern?

Do you want my skin torn

while I huff and hack thorns?

Shall I crown myself,

as I climb bramble shelves

to reach your true love?

The paths around roads

make me pause and unload

to reach landings above.

I bring you my self,

my heart,

my love.

And my clear divine task,

by force or by ask,

is to give these strange gifts

to the beauty surreal,

who lives fear and feel

behind this cold mask.
