Poetically Broken

And Rebuilt

Paper laced snowflakes

Cut up into strips

Eggnog and fruitcakes

Sweet mistletoe kisses

Green and blue flickering lights

Hot chocolate fireside sips

It’s Christmas Eve night

No matter what day it is

In each moment I relive it

Where the heart meets the head

Finding home in those moments

As I crawl into bed

That moment the clock strikes

Reigniting the flame

And that old fire ignites

At the sound of your name

Shattering the silence that lingers

Like the glass in the pane

Resetting the triggers

Stirring the past up again

As soft and unique

As the snow drifting by

Until the next time we meet

On the other side of the sky
