Poem of Adam

In his image we live

Hide me from guilt and shame

from history erase my name

But that was not your purposeful aim

broad shoulders now toiling in constant pain

Father of many nations

of all creation

bound to earthen clay and world's formation

wondering what could have been... awaiting salvation

There will surely be

a second me

who will walk perfectly

in purest harmony

He'll win the hearts of motley masses

healing will radiate wherever he passes

living, serving, with ferocious passion

a historical legacy he'll mark everlasting

Come quickly to redeem what was lost

Only you can fathom the ultimate cost

My heart your words have embossed

Even though away from your direct presence I am tossed

You walked with me in the dew of the morning

for you I was always adoring

Who could have realized such forewarning

Who could have fathomed such coming scorning

Alas we'll meet again and you I will embrace

Your eyes will be filled with such immeasurable grace

Eternal presence at last in glorious space

Redeemed and snatched from flames a portion of the human race
