Please Let Me Sleep And Dream

Each night I turn back the time,

slipping into dreams where you are still mine.

your voice close enough to touch,

your smile waiting for me.

Then I wake,

and it is all gone

we are no more,

No me and you.

The bed feels it is too wide,

the room too still.

I reach out and my hand touches nothing,

just air that refuses to hold me.

Night is cruel

it gives you back to me,

then rips you away.

So leaving me to choke on morning.

I keep closing my eyes

just to find you again,

because sleep is the only place

where love has not ended.
