A Monday Perspective

Monday — I forgot to take out the trash;

My alarm did not go off; I was late.

Barista gave me coffee — had no cash;

My boss demeaned me for a small mistake.

On the way home, public transit was bad,

Adding an hour to my same commute;

But at least at the gym, I won’t be sad;

Then I realized, I forgot my gym shoes.

I kept thinking, "well, Monday can’t get worse,"

Before the homeless man called me a whore,

Exited the train, knowing I was cursed;

Finally, I turned the key to my front door.

My dog ran like I was gone forever,

And his welcome made my whole day better.
