PLAN B

a poem about new perspectives

Trust deeply, almost delusionally.

Be present. Watch the time pass

With a careful eye, with curiosity.

Its onward march is an oddity.

It’s worth studying.

Be gentle.

All those mistakes

(the ones that pester

In the night)

Acknowledge them

and let them fade

To as faint as they can be.

Be even more gentle.

All those judgements

(the ones that weigh heavy

On the mind)

Let them fall, let them find

A shared narrative.

Listen.

Listen inside

To the heart beating

The feelings bubbling

The mind bursting.

Listen outside.

Wisdom comes in unlikely packages.

Love (and be loved) in one way or another.

It will end in loss and grief.

Find something worthy

and love it devoutly anyway.
