Places of comfort

When things got rocky,

I created safe places,

In my mind palace.

Somewhere I could find,

Only I would know about,

Where I could relax.

Outside is somber,

In my sight are no fake lights,

Stars are shining bright.

Darkness is looming,

Fresh air rejuvenating,

Loud, the crickets chirp.

Crackle goes the fire,

Aroma is delightful,

Reminds of childhood.

Anxiety hit,

I created safes places,

In my mind palace.

Somewhere to retreat,

To escape reality,

Where I could de-stress.

Fresh out the shower,

With loose-fitting pajamas,

Tucked in a corner.

Soft are the pillows,

Steaming is my mug of tea,

Soothing the rain sounds.

Smooth are the pages,

Pleasing is the smell of new,

Lost in fantasy.

If comfort is goal,

Then in bed is the first choice,

Holding him tightly.

Been there since my birth,

Evermore fluffy and near,

Forever always.
