Pieces She Left Behind

Still Breathing, Still Breaking

By Karun Published 2 years ago 1 min read

Baby, life ain’t a switch,

No flick to dim the pain or itch.

I thought I’d hold you in my hands,

But love slips like water through clenched sands.

The sun is not in reach, no matter how high,

No ladder built from dreams could touch that sky.

Your warmth felt borrowed, never mine to keep...

And now it haunts me as the past shadows creep.

Am I weak?

Letting go doesn’t feel brave.

It feels like sinking into an unmarked grave.

A hollow echo on a silent hill.

with each breath beyond your will

even your blunt heart cuts me deeper still.

Pieces She left behind

Still breathing, still breaking,

Each fragment whispers her name.

I think she was one of a kind.

Not always does the rain sneeze.

It soaks the earth where laughter once grew

At times it pours with quiet unease.

Now roots rot under skies of blue.

They say time heals all wounds, they lie!

Time just teaches you how to survive.

To live around the hole you left behind.

To smile while your old memory rewinds.

For letting her go isn’t freeing, it’s br.. breakin.

A heart forever bent, forever aching.

But here’s the truth, as raw as can be...

Loving you was both curse and remedy.

And though I let you drift away,

Every star reminds me of yesterday.
