The voice of the hypnotherapist gently coaches me
I am semi-aware of the rose corduroy chair beneath me
I breathe deeply, letting the stress and hurt go
I embrace the imagery he guides me through
You've come to a path leading to a stone staircase
Take the path slowly down, down, down
Ten, notice the weathered grey trellis on either side
Nine, take in the purple wisteria climbing up and up
Eight, glimpse the yellow roses growing beside the stairs
Seven, see a riot of red poppies opening to the sun
Six, smell the lavender wafting through the air
Five, feel the green ferns brush against your skin
Four, appreciate the blue cornflowers reflecting the sky
Three, savor the orange tiger lilies brightening the landscape
Two, breathe in the fragrance of plump pink peonies
And one, touch the white calla lilies so peaceful and calm
Follow the stone path toward the towering palm trees
Find yourself in a clearing that leads to the ocean
The alabaster sand is soft under your feet
The salty foam swirls around your ankles
Hear the waves as they ebb and flow
Taste the salt from the aqua ocean spray
On the horizon, a boat sails into the fuchsia sunset
Picture yourself on that blue and white sailboat
Let that imagery carry you away…
From across the sparkling turquoise water, a man awoke from a dream
He pictured a blonde woman drinking black coffee on the bow of his boat
I now live with that man on his blue and white sailboat
My life is as multicolored and multifaceted as the waves on a tropical island
