Piano

Her laughter sounds like wind chimes, and you're always telling jokes

I've spent so many moments plastered to walls

a statue in the wallpaper that fashions itself

around the moving bodies of

everyone else

catching a whisper

meant for one listener

and tucking it away into blossoming pockets

With the peel of a melody

I peel myself from the wall

and prop myself

a flowerpot

onto the piano

I sing a tune

with lips of petals

and a girl I once knew

flicks her gaze 'cross the room

she tucks the memory into her purse

so she can keep it minded

for future musings

When I see her again

she's sheepish

shy

standing side by side

with a girl I don't know

I tuck her away

for future thinking

and say

"You're a perfect match

because her laughter sounds like wind-chimes

and you're always telling jokes"
