Photosynthesize
if I had planted a garden in your mind...
My green-thumbed grandmother
had always told me to remember
that lavender helps with anxiety,
rosemary with stress,
and sweetheart jasmine
with depression.
And sometimes I wonder
if I had planted
a garden in your mind,
sown hearty seeds of love,
and watered it with
well water drawn straight from
my river-running heart,
would it have sprouted
and photosynthesized,
breathing happiness like vital
oxygen and candy sugar—
worries never to plague you again?
If I had planted that garden,
would you have lived?
