Petrarchan Sonnet of Love-at-First Sight

A stumbling iambic footed path with a Sicilian seste

At love's first sight, the world holds a soft glow

when a sterile old stick before that hour,

is enflamed by creations fire-shower,

crafting love’s sacred, gold-glazed sculpted show.

An obscure spark transforms matter to soul,

infusing a complex eternal power.

That stick forms blossoms, that in beauty flower

then bear fruit, renewing a cycle whole.

A carver finds flames in an ancient wood.

With intimate breaths, embers coaxed allow

the expression of a soul understood.

Fiery licks vault. A divine eminence lured,

flows from love's smouldering immortal bough

resonating harmony. All is good.
