Only you,
See the world
in black and white
His insults meant to
Spurn her
I prefer
Pearl-gray
She sarcastically answers
Then and there,
She took her pencil to paper
The pressure of her words
Embossed on the page after
“Snap” of the pencil tip
A number 2,
etched
into the side-
As they slide between the sheets.
Sharing their heat
Skimming,
With out any real comprehension
Like flipping through a pages of a book
He never intended to read
This is their tipping point
A haunting reminder
It takes two
A second of a faction
A place in time
Is not as divine
How easily,
he did not treat her
as a priority...
To him,
She is was no queen!
Just someone for his ego to demean
More of an option,
the letters darken
with each trace,
of graphite
writing out the word
OPTION
Her senses heightened
The heartache did frighten
Piercing a hole through the paper
Her words came to a literal halt
What a spectacle
She crumbled the lined paper
She used to keep her thoughts straight
Sometimes,
Finding the right words, can be hard...
As we stumble,
to discover their meaning.
Transfixed,
Her hands shook
As she threaded together
Her dignity,
Waving goodbye to her virginity
In pen,
her words glided,
as if rolled off the tongue
Of lips, freshly French kissed
The smooth darkened ink
doesn’t not smear,
as she tries desperately,
to catch a single tear
For every year-
Wasted on waiting
Without exception,
elegantly,
her head spun, scenarios
Many ways yes’
To no’s
The reverse
No’s to
Yes’
the conversation
could have ended better?
No rest;
Even the flies,
did not sputter
For her,
Word choice, straightforward
and as smooth as churned butter...
Her hands callused
From the grip
She held firmly,
Onto
An idea
of their future
Wrapping up the blame
of her actions
Just as the spider,
preys on the fly
Do not cry
For you did try
You,
Only you,
See the world
in black and white
I prefer
Pearl-gray
She sarcastically answers
Truthfully, she sees grayish
Colorless future skies in his eyes
That’s when the heart knows,
This puppy love,
just
died
