Pause The Way You Talk To Me
I need you to be nice or go

Pause The Way You Talk To Me
Pause the way you talk to me,
And think about the pain,
For every cruel word you speak,
Leaves tears that fall like rain.
I am the woman you once loved,
The wife you chose for life,
But somewhere down the road we walked,
You forgot I was your wife.
You raise your voice, you put me down,
You make me feel so small,
And when I try to speak my mind,
You never listen at all.
You tell me that I am worthless,
That nobody else would care,
But I remember who I was,
Before you left me in despair.
I cook your meals, I wash your clothes,
I give you all I can,
But somewhere in this marriage,
I lost my loving man.
You think because I stay with you,
That I will never leave,
But every night I lie awake,
With a heart that can only grieve.
I used to laugh, I used to smile,
I had such lovely dreams,
But now I walk on broken glass,
Or that is how it seems.
So pause the way you talk to me,
Before you speak again,
For I am not your enemy,
Nor someone to cause pain.
One day you might come home to find,
My wedding ring beside the door,
And all the love I gave to you,
Will not be yours anymore.
For I am still a woman,
With feelings and dignity,
And if you cannot treat me right,
Then please just set me free.
