Participation Trophy

Not every idea is a winner (including this one)

These thoughts, these thoughts

So tired of these thoughts

Always wanting attention

Crying look at me, look at me

Look what I can do

When, Let’s be honest

They are mediocre sketches at best

But

You’re not allowed to say that

It’s not constructive

Not good for their mental health

What are they expecting?

These scribbles, these outlines of an idea

A participation trophy? A ribbon?

Not everything can be a top story

For my vitriol and honesty

For putting them in their place

They should be grateful

Grateful, I say!

I could have followed the sage’s advice

And just killed off my darlings

I only ever competed in the Everyone’s a Winner competitions at the annual Agricultural Show! Otherwise, my lack of talent left me empty handed 😵‍💫.
