Paper Hearts and Hollow Rooms
Be careful they are fragile

Paper Hearts and Hollow Rooms
We built our home from paper hearts.
They fluttered when we spoke too loud.
You said love was a fragile thing,
I laughed because I thought you were joking.
We painted over the cracks with promises.
We held our fears in jars like fireflies.
Nights became longer, words became slower,
and silence made its bed between us.
One morning the walls sighed and gave in.
A storm came and tore the hearts apart.
I tried to gather what was left,
but everything soft had turned to ash.
Now I walk through hollow rooms,
where echoes pretend to be your voice.
And still I whisper back,
because ghosts deserve answers too.
