Electricity went out around nine,
a car hit something powerful,
five or six hours of house-quiet.
We filled the first few
the tried and true way
of losing track of time,
mouths finding better purpose
than speaking,
hands finding round places
to fill them
until everything
is hotly hard or softly wet,
coming together,
me disappearing into we
and loose-limbed, tangled
afterglow;
my power restored,
shining through the dark
bleeding into the night
from other houses.
