OUT OF ORDER

Or out of my mind

Ah, time to relax in my favorite chair

With the day behind me and my feet in the air.

I know what to do; I’ll make some tea.

That and a scone should satisfy me.

I walked towards the kitchen but stopped in mid stride

As I saw my old backpack and knew what was inside.

It was left at the door when I first arrived home

From taking those pictures in the parks where I’d roamed.

Clicking the button, I sat and perused

The many photographs on the chip that I used.

Then I smelled something burning and, in my surprise,

Saw the smoke from the oven beginning to rise.

I’d put in the scones I’d made earlier that day,

Now, looking, I realized they’d burned clean away!

I’ll relax now, after a long day of toiling.

What’s this? I didn’t put the kettle on for boiling!

For now, I’ll just sit and pay my bills for today.

Oh crap! Wait! They were due yesterday!!

I know, I know! I need a list of things to do.

But my mind often gets muddled. Does this happen to you?
