The Last Flame

By Myriam MelkiPublished 9 months ago • Updated 9 months ago • 1 min read

Your scorching breath on my throbbing neck,

Caresses me right there, where I am most vulnerable,

My skin moves to the beat of your baritone voice,

And the delicious warmth of your lips intertwined with mine

The droplets of sweat on my arched back have gone cold

I think I just might cry.

The burning heat in my chest threatens to cut me open,

That sharp ache on my breasts, as they yearn for you,

The glowing fire in your brown eyes, steady as ever,

I think I might fall in love with you again.

I would follow your blaze to the depths of eternity

Bathe in your inferno until nothing’s left but cinders

I would forever chase your dagger if it meant getting another taste of your skin.

I’d run into oblivion for you,

I’d combust into flames for you,

I’d set off all my fireworks for you,

I’d light it all up if it means seeing you smile again.

I’d burn all my bridges except the one that leads to you.

You know how much I hate it when things end, my love

So please, don’t choke out the flames you have surrounding me

If they lead me to hell let them, then I’d relish in your warmth

But if they grow cold, then my little heart would give in

Crystal shards of ice shattering me from within,

Don’t you kill it love, you know how much I really hate it when things end

Come kiss the embers of my broken heart

Come revive them before they’re ice again.
