Ordinary Magic
Makes a life feel extraordinary
I appreciate a good magician
Fellow storytellers
Dealing artful fabrications
Hidden up their sleeves
Captivating the senses
Conjuring the illusion that
Everything goes to plan
My wife is not as
Appreciative of
Their deceptive misdirections
But I cherish her laugh
At my childlike surprise
That sense of wonderment
Is what I love about magic
A reminder to look
Past the distractions
Revel in the joys, surprises
Of the familiar
Because our life is filled
With ordinary magic
Pick a card, in a game of Go Fish
Rabbits materializing in the garden
Feats of prestidigitation
To make a great meal appear
A beautiful companion
To share your secrets with
Making a new life
Now that is a magic trick
We’ve performed again and again
And yet
The wonder never ceases
The stage is set and ever moving
In rapt attention, I lean in
Grasp the magic ring on my finger
Make my one wish
That the curtains never fall,
The show never ends

A happy guy that tends to write a little cynically. Just my way of dealing with the world outside my joyous little bubble.
