To be perfection takes years of oppression,
Hiding, lying, denying
Crucifying all your morals and strengths to be the walking picture perfect magazine,
I used to feel like I was Divinely crafted by graphite and kryptonite,
Only To be wrecked by society and the standards upheld,
To be told Since a child I will never be anything more than a pretty smile,
Nobody takes it into consideration the appropriation we force upon little girls-
Sit up straight, close your legs, and make sure you hair falls in all the right directions,
Because we are taught from the age we can walk that we must bow down,
Bow down from your own persona,
Bow down to the man in a black suit that is too damn afraid to admit his mistakes,
And bow down to aggression,
Because us women are good for nothing but the kitchen,
And you lock our dreams away so they go unmentioned.
