Oops! Oh no! What have I done?

Written for the I didn't say that out loud challenge.

Never let your inner voice come out to play,

He'll wreak havoc and spoil your day.

Never invite your inner voice to visit Aunt Jane,

Truth be told, you might forget and let him speak.

What a scandal you would unleash!

Oops! Oh no! What have I done?

I let him say the quiet part out loud.

Now the room is silent, and

All eyes have turned to me.

I cross my legs and squirm.

If only I could disappear!

Oops! Oh no! What have I done?

Happy birthday, Aunt Jane!

Here's to another year around the sun.

Another year that I have waited,

For you to go. When your demise,

Turns to my penultimate gain.

Oops! Oh no! What have I done?

I just told that bag of bones,

That my only reason, her to visit,

Is for the inheritance

I so hope to gain

Upon her last breath.

Oops! Oh no! What have I done?

I've given rise to the bloodsuckers,

And sicophants.

Telling the truth has set me free.

Although it's now emptied my pockets,

Since she wrote me out of her will.

Author's Note: I hope you enjoyed this silly take on our inner voice.
