. . .
I cried again tonight.
Once more, you didn’t notice.
An expert at concealing it,
I laughed, and you, confident
In your own ignorance,
Believed me in a moment.
.
I know you think you see
Me. But truthfully, you
Consistently fail to see
Me. And I have come to
Believe you don’t care
One way or the other.
.
How can you not care?
I try, but I can’t understand you.
What’s worse, is that I still care —
What you think, what you do.
.
I want so much to just let go —
Of you, of us. Of me.
Why can’t I let go?
What is it that won’t let me be?
.
I cried again tonight.
Once more, you didn’t notice.
An expert at concealing it,
I laughed, and you, content
In your own ignorance,
Believed me. So be it.
