Alone she sits with her life in her hands, watching the world swirling all around her.

She fell for him when he was young.

She loved him for many years that followed.

His stride is a little different now,

He walks more self assured.

Age isn't something that can be fixed or something that can be cured.

When exactly did he wake up and realize she wasn't the one he craved?

How long has he gone through the motions just to get through the day?

How often has he secretly wished her gone, while asking her to stay?

How often has he thought of her when he went astray?

Years later, it feels like forever, she thought.

So many words are said in vain.

Some can be devastating, all of his were meant to cause pain.

She sees relief in his eyes when she leaves, for her it's the opposite, she never wants to leave.

What would you do differently if all you had was today?

How do you get back to a place that just doesn't fit anymore?

Give it time, give him space, she was told.

Meanwhile, time moves on and she keeps getting old.

Watching him from a distance now, doing what she was told.

Didn't help her none, she's here still all alone.

Watching him happy now, don't say it, she should have known.

Bittersweet romances don't amount to much.

Fairy tales and true love only last so long.

In this world, now filled with cyberspace, in a second there's someone ready to take your place.

Especially if they are willing and able.

She wishes she could go back in time and cut that damn cable.

This is why I don't go with you anywhere.

This is why I'm not around you.

His words penetrate her mind, she just can't take much more.

And alone she sits with her life in her hands, watching the world swirling all around her.

All she hears are his venomous words.

Again and again and again.

Wondering just what to do.

Knowing he no longer cares for her, knowing he no longer wants her.

Alone she sits.

These four walls are breathing for her now.

She just sits solemnly, gasping for air.

She can't move, she just won't dare.

Suffocating in their memories, living in their demise.

She doesn't know where to go.

For a decade he has been her life.

She is scared. She is alone.

Every time she sees him it hurts so much she just wants to die.

She is losing everything one piece at a time.

And alone she sits with her life in her hands, watching the world swirling all around her.
