One cup at a time

There’s nothing worse than a cold cup of tea…

There’s nothing worse

than a cold cup of tea.

I don’t care what they say

Microwaving is never the same.

It’s got to be piping hot

so that you can feel it

While it rolls down your throat

And warms up your belly.

So that the cup

Heats your frosty fingers

And for a moment

Everything feels cosy.

Green tea is good

And Chamomile too

But breakfast tea

Is fuel for the soul.

A little bit of milk

A teaspoon of sugar

And as you sip

Everything stops rushing by.

I drink tea

On those rainy days

Coming home sopping wet

With chattering teeth.

I drink tea

In the garden

Amidst the birds

And the morning dew.

I drink tea

Before bedtime

Snuggled in blankets

With Netflix playing.

I drink tea

When I see my family,

"Put the kettle on"

Is how we say hello.

I drink tea

When I’m stressed

With a tight chest

And gritted teeth.

I drink tea

As it makes the world

A little cosier

One cup at a time.
