Once
I Knew What Love Was
You were breathing for me baby
As the stars fell from the sky
Though the clouds were dark and weighty
They still reflected in your eyes
Though you may have found another
It’s true that you’re no longer mine
But you were once my lover
In another place and time
Long ago we vowed forever
You were the heartbeat in my chest
We stood hand and hand together
Clinging tightly we both confessed
But like the changing of the seasons
The air grew cold and flowers died
Against all rhyme and without reason
Love slipped away like drifting tides
Still that can’t change the way I loved you
Can’t take away the power we knew
Those days were fragments of forever
When I believed you hung the moon
