It's not a place on a map

but it's somewhere you go

Just after the beaches

and before the snow

A world of wild wonder

where the fireflies rest

And the leaves pile under

as trees are getting undressed

The bluest of skies, thinning

as clouds flitter softly, like birds

Gathering together in flocks, beginning

their dance, as cooler seasons return

The scent of magic in the air

as the landscape starts changing

The flashing lights of the fairs

like an artist whose painting

Dappled trees, rainbow blends

and the breezes are cooler

Determined dreamers pretend

the daylight hours are not getting fewer

Glassy lakes, harvest moons

a subtle change in the weather

Friendly faced jack O lanterns

and the warm hug of a sweater

Apple trees share their feast

with fresh baked pies and some cider

Tipsy bees begging please

as those apples get riper

A different world it seems

as the pace begins getting slower

The evenings saunter with ease

as the sun starts sinking lower

No, it's not anywhere on a map

but you know, we've all been there

That welcoming gap

where peace floats like leaves in the air
