On love and hate

a diet poem

We talked of love and food and food and love

And all the combinations thereof;

That world is ending, so, before too late,

Let's talk instead of dieting and hate.

Both love and hate are simply points of view:

Steamed chicken breast - we wetly dream of you,

So delicate but firm as we caress

Your gentle curves with forks... but I digress:

Let's puff our chests and tighten our belts

Because we talk of hate, and nothing else.

We hate with passion, passion is the way

As winds of hate that make us bend and sway -

But never break, as love so often does -

Fill our heads with oxygen and buzz.

We follow scripts and programs and advice,

Our wildest dreams are of the wildest rice,

We banish tears, regrets, complaints and sighs,

We salivate at memories of thighs,

And even wings - oh, how our souls can fly!

Forbidden pleasures crawl and multiply

And tease and strip and ask us to a dance

And promise ecstasy if we would only once

And whisper "life is short, too short to wait..."

But I digress again. Let's talk of hate.
