Omagi

The art of seasoning a restless soul.

By Chamu GonellaPublished 12 months ago • 1 min read
When emotions taste like ingredients yet to blend

Is it omagi —

or is it something else?

Sweet yet sour,

bitter yet omagi.

Tears are salty,

yet deliberately sweet.

The heart throbs spicy,

yet instinctively, petrichor.

Momentary thoughts

and chants of the almighty

leave the herbal tea distant.

Desires of my life, my choice —

wishing to be chocolatey,

vanilla-flavoured,

with almond extract.

On a diet,

wanting life to act like stevia —

but it turns to cutting onions,

garlic, chives, and leeks.

Then —

a bolt of lightning struck:

a treasured cookbook,

the recipe there — yet unreachable.

Need a witch,

or a miracle.

A glimmer of hope —

to balance all the spices,

to rest in the abyss…

To have the heart and eyes

glittered with sparklers,

and the brain and taste buds

bubble to eternal bliss.
