Four years training
you're feeling at your best,
lining up at the start in your numbered vest.
The gun goes BANG! and you're off from the block.
Jostling for position with an eye on the clock.
DING! goes the bell as you're nearing the end,
time to take the lead as you're on the final bend.
You've covered the distance and you're crossing the line,
dipping at the finish to record the fastest time.
You've got your reward now resting on your heart
your long distance dream was just to take part.
